INTRODUCTION
Imagine that the Educational Minister wants to reduce the number of Maths teaching hours/ a week to increase IC hours and ask to the Maths teachers to list the subjects to delete from the programe. Among them she suggests to cancel the logarithm because they are outdated cause of the use of calculators.
Create a CANVA Presentation to explain why it is a great mistake to cancel the logarithms from the programe standing up for ourselves. You are the new "knights of the Maths".
TASK
- to know the definition of logarithm;
- to calculate the value of simple logarithms;
- to apply the properties of logarithms;
- to solve the logarithmic equation applying the properties and analyze the solution ;
- compare the use of logarithms in different fields ( earthquake, chemistry, music, astronomy,...)
- discuss with your friends about the importance of logarithms in your studying and defend your idea, giving minimum two reasons.
- create a presentation where you show your ideas.
PROCESS
Step 1
See the following materials and solve the assigned tests.
4. Solve the following equation and discuss about the result:
log 10(3x-1) + log10(x+2)= log10(100)
Step n. 2
The following resourses give you some ideas about the applications of logarithms in our life. In group of 3 students, research other informations about one of this application and create a little presentation by canva app (www.canva.com)
Step n.3
Discuss with other groups about your ideas and collect all presentations in one to show to the other classes of your school.
