UNITAT 3. M2P6
ACTIVITY 8
GRAPHIC STUDY OF CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL MAGNITUDES.
In this activity you are going to create a chart showing the evolution of the intensity in the electric field between two charges Q1 and Q2 located at one meter away.
This is the formula that calculates the intensity in a given point….
… at a distance x from Q1, (and 1-x from Q2). K is a constant with value
In order to understand the representation of the formula , take into account these explanations:
The intensity of an electric field is a vector, but as you work along a segment, we will only consider the module of the vector and the direction will be ignored.
As we are only interested in the the curve shape, we will also disregard the value of K, which can be considered a scale factor
Open the L.O.Calc. Open your student template . Open the sheet .8.1 Intensitat d'un camp elèctric.
Write these values of charge wherever you like
Fill a column with 19 equidistant values from 0 to 1, following these steps:
Select 19 cells
Select the menu option Edita | Emplena | Sèries, set 0 as Valor inicial and 0,05 as Augment
Define the above mentioned 19 cells as the area of data X ,
Define the cells where it is located the Q1 value as carrega1. Define carrega2 ( the cell where is located the Q2 value).
In the column on the right of X set the formula =ABS(carrega1/x^2-carrega2/(1-x)^2) and extend it down the 19 cells as shown in the image
Save the document. Save a version and call it 8.1.1
You must create a chart using the columns X and F. Follow the same steps learned in activity 7
In this chart you won't need to add secondary axes. Try to get a format similar to the shown in the image below.
Use the scale of axes X shown in the image below
Use Insereix | Títol to set the tittles as shown in the picture
Set two decimal numbers for the values in the column X. Otherwise the numbers in the axes X of the chart won't be readable
The final result should look like the following:
MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR ACTIVITIES FILE. Open the file browser Nautilus using LLocs | inici. Open your calc activities folder. Select your Calc activities file and copy it (ctrl+c) and paste it (ctrl+v) in the same folder. This will create a perfect safety copy of your activities file, keeping in it the versions. Carry on working with the original file. Don't upload it to Moodle until you finish the last activity
