CALC PRACTICA 5
ACTIVITY 5
IMPORTANT WARNING: THIS ACTIVITIES ONLY WILL BE ASSESSED IF THEY ARE CARRIED OUT IN YOUR PERSONAL TEMPLATE. DOWNLOAD YOUR TEMPLATE FROM MOODLE AND DON'T ALTER THE SHEETS hoja1, hoja2, hoja3 OR ANY OTHER IDENTIFICATION MARK IN YOUR TEMPLATE.
The objective of this activity is to create a sheet to convert values expressed in different units of length (km, hm ...) to a single unit of measurement (meter).
1. Open LO calc. Open your student template. Open the sheet 5.1 Conversion units
2. Select the range B6: D12 and center it both horizontal and vertically using the menu option Format | cells | alignment
3. Format the cells in the range B6: B12 to express the values as follows:
Cell B6 express values in km
Cell B7 expresses the values in hm
Laa cell B8 expresses the value in dam
Cell B9 expresses the values in m
The B10 cell expresses the value in dm
Cell B11 expresses the value in cm
The cell B12 expresses the value in mm
To format a cell in which the values are expressed in a specific measurement unit (Km, hm, m ...), you must select the menu option to Format|Cel·les|Marcar en separadors de milers. In the window that opens, the default expression that appears in the box Codi de fomat is #. ## 0. Enter "km" after #. ## 0. Finally it would look like this:
#. ## 0 "km"
To write other expressions, you just have to do the same process and write whatever other name of unit within quotes.
4 write in the range C6:C12 the equal sign (=)
5. Format the cells in D6:D12 with thousands separators, using the menu option Format | Cel·les | Nombres (categoria: números) and in options set there the box separador de milers
6. Write in D7 the formula = B7 * 100
7. Write to cell D8 the formula =B8 * 10
8. Write in l D9: the formula =B9
Save the document using the save button or Archivo | guardar. Never use Save as (archivo | guardar como ) otherwise the previous versions in your document will be lost. Save a version and call it 5.1.1
10. Write in D10 the formula = B10 / 10
11. Write in D11 the formula= B11 / 100
12. Write in D12 the formula = B12 / 1000
13. Format the cell D10 with a decimal places using Format|Cel·les|Nombres|Número|Opcions|Nombre de decimals (indicate the number of decimals)
14. Format the cell D11 with two decimal places.
15. Format the cell D12 with three decimals.
To format cells that show decimals, do the following:
16. Make the width that conveys from the columns.
17. Protect the cells that you agree to.
To protect the ceeties that you agree, you just have to unprotect the cells where the numbers are written and then protect the sheet.
18. Change the cell values of the B6: B12 range to check how conversions are made automatically.
19. Save the file. The final result must look like this
Save the document using the save button or Archivo | guardar. Never use Save as (archivo | guardar como ) otherwise the previous versions in your document will be lost. Save a version and call it 5.1.2
MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR ACTIVITIES FILE. Open the file browser Nautilus using LLocs | inici. Open your calc activities folder. Carry on working with the original file.
Activate sheet 5.3 in your activity template. In the image below are shown the formulas needed to calculate the conversion of units in D5: J11.
In D3 write = 10; then in E3 write =D3 * 10 and extend to J3
In A5 write = 10; then A6 write= A5 * 10 and extend to A11
In D5 write = $ B5 * D $ 3 / $ A5 and extend to J11.
Hide the row 3 and column A selecting the Hide option frome contextual menu
