CALC PRACTICA 4
LIBRE OFFICE CALC
ACTIVITY 4
Start L.O. Calc. Open your personal template and select the sheet 4.1 pesos moleculars
In B4:E5 you must enter the atomic mass of Oxygen, Carbon, Nitrogen i Hydrogen (look at the image below).
Insert the data and format the table as shown in the image below. In the next lines you have some tips about how to get the correct format
To write the subscripts numbers in the formulas, first, write the formula, for example: CH3COOH. Next select the number which must be subscript and select Format | Caràcter | Posició del tipus de lletra, and select Posició / Subíndex.
The atomic weight must have to decimal numbers select Format | Cel·les | Números or use the buttons
In order to place the title in a single cell you have to merge 5 cells. First select those five cells and click in the menu option Format | Fusiona les cel·les or use the button merge from the format menu
Save the document using the save button or Archivo | guardar. Never use Save as (archivo | guardar como ) otherwise the previous versions in your document will be lost.Save a version and call it 4.1.1
Enable the border lines. Select the cells and use the tool Vores choosing the option shown in the image
Give colors selecting the cells and using the button Color de fons Drop it down and select the suitable color
Write, first, the amount of atoms that make up a molecule of water. In this case, write a 2 in cell B7 (2 hydrogen atoms) and 1 in cell E7 (1 oxygen atom).
Enter, in cell F7, the formula = B4 * B7 + E4 * E7 that will work out the atomic mass of water.
Rewrite the previous formula in F7 with = B $ 4 * B7 + C $ 4 * C7 + D $ 4 * D7 + E $ 4 * E7, you will get the same result, but this formula has the advantage that can be easily extended down
Extend F8 to F12
Save the document using the save button or Archivo | guardar. Never use Save as (archivo | guardar como ) otherwise the previous versions in your document will be lost.Save a version and call it 4.1.2
Enter, for each chemical compound, the amount of hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen and oxygen atoms that make up that molecule. Obviously, leave blank the cells of chemical elements that are not part of the formula.
Complete the work highlighting with bold letters the cells corresponding to the formulas of the substances and those corresponding to the calculations of the molecular masses.
Check that the activity works correctly.
Save the document using the save button or Archivo | guardar. Never use Save as (archivo | guardar como ) otherwise the previous versions in your document will be lost.Save a version and call it 4.1.3
MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF YOUR ACTIVITIES FILE. Open the file browser Nautilus using LLocs | inici. Open your calc activities folder. Select your Calc activities file and copy it (ctrl+c) and paste it (ctrl+v) in the same folder. This will create a perfect safety copy of your activities file, keeping in it the versions. Carry on working with the original file. Don't upload it to Moodle until you end the last activity
