Video Transcription: Greek Mosaic

A mosaic is a Greek picture made up of many bits of colored glass or stone. To make a mosaic you simply cut glass and glue it into place on a surface or you can place the pieces into cement or grout, then wait for it to dry. You could also use stones instead of glass, then place them in cement or grout. The Greeks used pieces of glass shells, pebbles, pottery or small tiles to make their mosaics. The Greeks used to type of mortar to keep the pieces in place.

Mosaics were usually used as footpaths, walls or floors, mosaics were used to tell a story, usually mythological scenes. The first mosaics ever discovered date back to Mesopotamia, Mosaics continued to be popular until today.
