INTRODUCTION

The didactic unit treated in this report concern to Algebra of 1st ESO. Which belongs to the block 2: "Numbers and algebra".

In my opinion, Algebra is the most important branch of mathematics. Its use is present in many areas. It is very useful to simplify many works of the daily life of many professionals from engineers, architects, doctors, electricians, carpenters, etc. This provides the ability to develop a logical and algorithmic thinking to solve problems. In addition, when students make the transition from the concrete to the symbolic language of arithmetic algebra, develop abstract reasoning skills.

AIMS

Content Aims

• Translate definitions, properties or mathematical relations into algebraic language.
• Operate with monomial.
• Know, understand and use the concepts concerning the equations and its elements.
• Solve first degree equations with one unknown.
• Use the equations as tools to solve problems.

Language aims:

• Know and use the nomenclature relating to algebraic expressions and their elements.
• Know and use the nomenclature concerning the equations and its elements.
• Understand the problem definitions.

 CONTENTS

• Introduction to algebraic language.
• Translation of expressions of everyday language, which represent real situations in algebraic language.
• Algebraic language for generalizing properties and symbolize relationships.
• Securing formulas and general terms based on the observation of patterns and regularities.
• Numeric value of an algebraic expression.
• Simple operations with algebraic expressions.
• Transformation and equivalents. Identities. Operations with polynomials in simple cases.
• First degree equations with one unknown and second degree with one unknown

METHODOLOGY

Flipped Classroom

This educational model focuses on learning in the student, making it part of their learning. Furthermore, it promotes independence and critical thinking.

Therefore, students will be provided 6 videos corresponding to the theoretical parts of the unit. To be able to check that students have accessed this resource there will be some activities within the video either by a reflection of the content, questions for the professor, who has not been understood, exercises, etc. ..
