EXPLORING THE FIVE SENSES

Welcome to the senses of the body.

In this unit we explore the five senses and their functions. 

The Unit has 2 lessons (2 hours). You are asked to complete different activities and task.

LESSON 1: PRESENTATION OF THE FIVE SENSES-I PART (1 HOUR)

Activity 1

The song: My five senses song

Firstly you will watch a video about the senses.

Then you will observe a picture that will be on the board where senses appear in order in relation with the song.

Here you will repeat after the teacher the name of the senses.

After that, you have to write the missing letters.

Activity 2

 

Flash cards of senses.

We will have five cards representing the five senses and five objects representing the things we migh experience with those

senses.

We first set out the five senses cards, one at a time, and talk about what each one is.

Then we spread out the five objects cards out of order and ask the children to try to mach the senses

to the object.

 

LESSON 2: KNOWING THE FIVE SENSES- II PART (1 HOUR)

Activity 1

Poem: Counting Senses

We will learn the Poem.

I see with my eyes

I hear with my ears

two eyes two ears,

I taste with my mouth,

I smell with my nose

One mouth, one nose.

I touch with my hands,

I feel with my toes,

two hands ten toes.

My senses tell me

I'm truly alive.

Senses, one, two, three, four, five !

Activity 2

Collage work in team work

We will divided the students up into five groups and give in each group a large peace of paper

with one of the five senses written at the top.

Then we will give them glu, scissors and magazines, and have them find and cut out pictures of things to go

with the sense they have.

When all os the groups arevfinished, they can share their collages with the rest of the class.
