2 hours module: Reception of a vehicle in the workshop

1. Introduction

In this two hours module, to complete the contents that we saw in the Unit "Types of internal combustion engines" and to develop new competences, we are going to make a practical activity: A complete reception of a car in the workshop

The reception vehicle in the workshop is one of the most important parts in the process of a car repair and for this reason it is important to know how to do it properly.

2. Process

Activity 1: First of all, in groups of 3, one person will be the customer, another the receptionist and another the mechanic (then the papers will be exchanged). They have to simulate that the client arrives and he wants to repair his car.

- Functions that have to do the customer: You have to explain properly the problem to the receptionist. It is important that you describe with technical vocabulary the problem of the car and you answer all the questions that the recepcionist will do.

- Functions that have to do the recepcionist: Identify the characteristics of the car properly (type of engine...etc) and do specific questions to the customer.

- Functions that have to do the mechanic: You have to understand well the idea of the car's problem through the recepcionist and eventually the customer.

The communication between the three must be fluid and good to be able to correctly identify the breakdown and try to solve it.

During the activity, the students will be able to use the resources proposed (dictionary) and they will be able to ask the teacher.

Activity 2: Make a glossary of the vocabulary that has appeared during and give a brief description of its function in the engine.
