1. This is the national bird of Malta.

2. It is called 'Il-Merill' , in Maltese. In English it is called the 'Blue Rock Thrush'.

3. The male bird has a beautiful blue colour.

4. The female bird is brown with a black tail and wings.

5. This bird lives alone on the cliffs by the sea and in the valleys.

6. It likes to eat worms, grasshoppers and lizards.

7. 'Il-Merill' likes to rest on rubble walls or electric wires.

8. The male bird can sing beautifully. 

9. It starts to sing in February and stops at the end of May.

10. The Blue Rock Thrush can be found in other countries around the Mediterranean Sea.
