We all know that teamwork is an ideal way to achieve success faster. But how should teamwork be managed in companies? How do teams in companies achieve success? Follow these seven points and you will succeed in your company:

  1. Clear objectives

The success of teamwork depends heavily on the definition of the goal. All team members must have a common understanding of it. Only when all members are really clear about what the goal is, teamwork can succeed.

  1. Adapt teams

Often it is not possible to pick and choose the team composition. Then a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) is recommended. This way the team can be analyzed. With the results a successful team can be formed. Ideally, the risks and weaknesses of the team are discussed together. This creates transparency and promotes a sense of "we".

  1. Professional and human roles in the team

A team thrives on the different perspectives of its members. Together they create something new. Here it helps not only to have the most professionally suitable people in the team. There must also be members with "soft" skills. For example, there should be someone in the team who can also cheer up the team.

  1. Work in short cycles

Tasks that take a short time to complete motivate us. Tasks that take a lot of time are rarely completed by most people. Visible progress is missing here. Everyone needs confirmation, even in between tasks. Therefore, tasks should be divided into smaller packages. This allows for small feelings of success. This motivates a team.

  1. Go to the "dark side of the force" with the team

Teams that consist only of experts in one field are usually blind outside their own field. The longer one deals with a specialized topic, the easier it is for routines to creep in. As a result, obvious problems or even opportunities are overlooked. With the help of the method "the dark side of power" a change of view can be taken. It promotes thinking outside the usual thought patterns.

EXAMPLE:
Method "the dark side of power"
(goal: improve cooperation with another team)

Step 1: Formulate the goal in negative terms: how do we prevent collaboration?

Step 2: Find ways to achieve the negative goal, e.g. by brainstorming.

Step 3: Look at original goal and check which possibilities from step 2 are currently being carried out. These must be terminated.

Step 4: Consider and implement new ideas, taking into account the previous steps, to achieve the original goal.

  1. Mistakes are good - they are there for learning

As soon as you do something new, mistakes can happen. But routines are also prone to mistakes. Only when there is trust in a team can problems and mistakes be talked about openly. A healthy error culture is an important step towards high-performance collaboration.

  1. Celebrate team progress and successes.

As soon as a success occurs in the team, this must be celebrated. Teams need to be aware that they have or have not achieved something. After all, failures are also part of working together. Celebrating successes promotes a sense of togetherness, which in turn helps to promote good teamwork.

If these seven points are taken to heart, then we are looking at a team that is well organized. A real team has been created.
