Introduction:

By the end of this LU, you will be able to adopt mindfulness and guide others in the practice.

Content:

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of your surroundings and what you  are doing, and not be overly reactive or overwhelmed by what is going on around you.

It also involves acceptance, meaning that we pay attention to our feelings and thoughts but without judging if they are “right” or “wrong”.

Now you will learn different mindfulness practices that you can practice in ten minutes or less.

Taking a shower

Next time you are taking a shower, take a deep intentional breath and continue focusing on it as you feel the sensation of the water and the soap on your body. Notice the temperature of the water and how your hands wash your body.

It is important to bring your awareness fully to the task, guiding your attention back if it wanders.

Mindful observation

This exercise is designed to connect us with our surroundings, something that we may have missed when we were rushing around.

Choose a natural object from your immediate environment and focus on watching it for two minutes. Don’t do anything else, just relax for as long as your concentration allows you to, and explore every aspect of it.

The 4-7-8 Exercise

You can do this exercise in any position, but we recommend you  sit with your back straight.

You can visit the following resources for free meditations:
