TEXT
The group is very important in the problem solving process. In general, when making decisions, whether at work or in your everyday life, the group at times proves to be crucial, especially in certain cases. Below are a few examples of how groups can be trained to solve problems together:
A concrete example, which is also used in team-building exercises, might relate to the restaurant industry. In the restaurant industry, it is essential to learn how to collaborate in order to solve any critical situation that arises. A popular role-playing game is the "cooking" theme. The group's objective is to prepare a complex dish in the shortest possible time, and each participant has his or her own role, from taking the order with a potential customer, to the actual preparation of the dish.
Then, the group identifies the solutions that have been put in place to solve the problem, even those that bring failure. Examining the failed solutions allows for the paradoxical effect our brain creates in a spontaneous way - an avoidance towards failure. In this methodology, group creativity and spirit of initiative are developed.
A concrete example can be represented by the "Climber's Technique": a method that is mainly used by experienced mountain guides to climb a mountain. It doesn't start from the base of the mountain but directly from the summit. In this way, when you have a very difficult problem to solve, you start from the objective to reach the starting point, in order to create very small objectives and make it much easier to solve the problems.
Can group discussions be created online?
The strategies mentioned above involve collaboration between people through role-playing and mostly in-person. However, you can also create interactive group activities thematic discussions that can be accessed and reviewed over the years. This creates a wealth of ideas and the moment similar problems arise, you can browse through all the ideas that have come up.
We are taught collaboration and to be a team player from an early age in school. They teach us to give the best of ourselves to help each other, to share and achieve common goals. Creating goals in a group is very advantageous because you have more resources, more points of view and more creative and innovative opinions.
