Introduction:

Tackling and managing a problem often triggers  "resolution anxiety", ending in satisfaction or frustration. This is to say that the emotional sphere is very much involved in problem solving; in fact, the problem solver faces the problem positively, seeing it as an opportunity for change. A positive attitude, in turn, stimulates creativity and facilitates involvement. What allows the achievement of all this is emotional intelligence, or "the ability to monitor one's own feelings and those of others in order to achieve goals.

Our lives are surrounded by setbacks, obstacles and difficulties. However, some of us are not even aware of their existence, as if they were pebbles that appear along the way; others turn them into huge boulders capable of blocking any way out.: Being able to reduce the problems requires us to work on emotionality. Changing one's view of the world and improving one’s  ability to manage emotions are  the first steps in developing our aptitude  for problem solving. Managing emotions, however, is not a simple skill because it is not innate; it must be trained and developed.

In this regard, emotional  intelligence is fundamental because it is present in each of us: we all learn from an early age to come to terms with our  emotions on our way to "emotional literacy"; we learn to recognize, express and manage our  emotions. However, as  adults we can still  improve our  skills in this regard and as a result  improve the quality of our  lives and relationships.

Emotional intelligence is therefore the set of soft skills necessary to effectively manage emotions in  social interactions;  these skills increase our  ability to  solve problems, they stimulate constructive thinking and allow the achievement of better results.

THE 3 CORNERSTONES OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE:

SELF AWARENESS: is the ability to recognize and differentiate one’s  emotions and their manifestations. The first step is to ask ourselves about our emotions, breaking them down into manageable chunks  to understand their nature. Being self-aware means being able to recognize what emotion we are feeling, to communicate this feeling  to those around us  and to use it to guide our actions and our thinking.

SELF-CONTROL: is the ability to dominate an emotion without repressing it. It is a direct consequence of self-awareness. The first step in developing this ability is to accept emotions and welcome them as intrinsic to our nature.

EMPATHY: is the ability to perceive the mood and feelings of another person. This too is related to self-awareness. It is developed by first learning to listen.
