Many different institutes offer costly communication seminars. These can take place in a group or in an individual setting. If you don't want to book a seminar to improve your communication skills, there are some tips you can follow:

Information about communication alone, already sensitize you to what communication is and how it works. After all, if you know about interpersonal communication, it's easier to understand where misunderstandings or hurdles can arise. 

In our fast-paced world, there is a flood of information that the human brain must filter. This means it can be easy for us to lose important information in this overflow. Awareness of effective communication helps us prevent this loss of information. If we follow the above tips and apply them in conversations, we will have created a good framework to ensure the correct exchange of information.

 

PRACTICAL RELEVANCE: After your next important conversation, take the time to reflect on what happened again. Consider whether you clearly relayed the information and whether the person across the table understood what you were trying to tell them. Further, think about whether your body language matched what was said and how your counterpart received the message. In other words, how your conversation partner reacted.
