Employers in particular value employees who can think critically. Those who can think critically also bring creative solutions to problems, which promotes innovation in the company. The ability to think critically for problem solving is important in any industry.

The ability to think critically therefore enables you to solve problems in a creative way. A creative problem-solving process is also always an innovative process that makes it possible to move from a current undesirable situation to a desired position. It involves defining the problem, gathering different information from different sources, defining possible solutions, analysing them and then implementing them. This means that the basic principles of creative problem solving are:

A well-known model for creative problem solving is the CPS Learner's Model. This can be helpful in developing innovative solutions.

Clarify: Start by naming goals and challenges. You should clearly define your goals and collect information about the problem at hand. It can be helpful, for example, to interview people or conduct surveys. It is important that you try to understand the different points of view. In order to build understanding, it is necessary to ask open questions to get a picture of different possibilities and challenges.

Ideate : When it comes to brainstorming, things get creative. Methods such as brainstorming or mind mapping can be used here. If creativity does not flow immediately, it helps to take a break to come back with fresh thoughts.

Develop: Now you become a little more explicit. The many creative possibilities found earlier are now evaluated. All potential solutions are now analysed and reasons are collected why a solution is suitable or unsuitable.

Implement: Now you have reached the implementation stage. The procedure must be planned. Be aware of your resources. Get in touch with all stakeholders and explain the implementation.
