Introduction |
Computers entered our lives as tools to help in businesses and scientists work Later, they became invaluable tools for creating contents, and finally to keep us all continuously communicated In this last step towards their “humanisation” they needed to liberate themselves from the simplicity of their algorithms and basic logic decision making style, otherwise, they can be unbearable repetitive companion But, how are they evolving and trying to reach the important category of “our friends”? How do the computers are starting to take human-like decisions, and including in them the information they constantly get from us, from all of us? |
Task |
In this task we have to answer the questions:
|
Process |
To do so, try first to do these exercises
|
Sources of information |
Evaluation |
Criteria | 4. Excellent | 3. Good | 2. Satisfactory | 1. Not satisfactory |
Builds a complete timeline of milestones | It includes some more than the most important 5 milestones in ML, correctly labeled and described | It includes some more than the most important 5 milestones in ML. Well labeled | It includes some more than the most important 5 milestones in ML. Well labeled | It doesn't include at least the 5 most milestones or them are badly labeled |
Describe the milestones with their importance | Include a precise analysis of the most relevant breakthroughs which changed the view we have about IA or its power | It lists the main milestones and succinctly explain their importance | It lists the main milestones in the evolution of AI | It does not least all or the most relevant moments of AI evolution |
Describe ML stages | Explain clearly what each of the 7 stages do. Explain their extent, limitations, and necessity | It describe in some depth the stages | It does not describe all the stages, but the most evident ones | It omits stages or present them without any explanation |
Describe the Future of ML and current applications | List the areas where AI currently shines and the areas where it is of little use | It only shows the strengths of AI and its efficient use but not express its limitations | It only shows a few and well known areas of use | It omits many important areas of use and completely ignores its limitations |
Comparison between human and artificial inteligence | A deep analysis including aspects different than the simple hardware/brain efficiency approach. Like human needs, community sense, etc | An analysis which takes an organised comparison and lists physical and goals aspects in the comparison | A list of interesting aspects comparing which is better for each one | An incomplete list or an unrelated list of topics, or wrong characteristics |
Conclusion |
Even this is a hard topic, with many deep aspects difficult to dig into, the idea of what Artificial Intelligence really is, deserves a try. Computers are relying more and more on it and companies demand experts on it at a faster pace every day. AI experts are replacing experts in especific areas. How this AI works is on one hand a complex technical issue, based on statistics, matrix calculus, and diverse ways of formatting the information, and at the other hand it is a so important topic that is affecting our lives, that it is mandatory, for all of us, to have an idea of its fundamentals and limits, and of course, about its possibilites, too. To continue its study, you can follow AI actual use by diverse companies, Amazon, Apple, Google… etc and how important is becoming for the future use of technology |
